Got Coffee?

If this is how you plan to spend your weekend, you need coffee!
If this is how you feel when your alarm clock rings, you need coffee!
If this is how you feel after a wild night at a Triad Coffee Shop, uh, hmmm, how might I say this delicately . . . you might be a groundhog!

Hansel & Gretel of
No matter who you are, there's a Triad Coffee Shop you're bound to love. If you work a 9 to 5 downtown, there are plenty of shops there. If you work a noon to 9 at the mall, grab a cuppa joe on your dinner break or stop by to catch the last bit of live music on the way home.

If you're doggone broke, save your Coke & Cheez-It money all week and scrape together 10 bucks for your weekend entertainment. Many coffee shop events are free, while others charge a $3 cover. What a bargain!

Hot Dogs & Groundhogs, Coffee & Ice Cream

Aug 28, Golden Antique Mall in Summerfield: hot dog sale to benefit Piedmont Wildlife Rehab, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; 2 to 4 p.m. groundhogs Hansel and Gretel will visit; t-shirts and vintage items for sale in the antique mall. (Special note from MochaMutt: If you haven't met Hansel and Gretel yet, ya gotta see them eat a big piece of broccoli, dawg - - it's awesome!)

UPDATE: Sorry if you missed it! CoffeeCat got to see my friend Hansel again. Here he is trying to get away - once his treat was gone, he was ready to do a belly flop on the cool tile floor. Hansel's dream is to have a wildlife center where orphaned and injured animals can get better and learn to live in the wild again. Friend his group on Facebook to stay informed of fundraisers & volunteer needs. CoffeeCat loves finding coffee shops that support people who are doing good things for our planet! And yes, I finally tried the coffee at Summerfield Creamery - a vanilla bean frappe that promises to be more addictive than iced mocha. It's the perfect drink to cool you off and get your afternoon bzzzz. Oh no!

Coffee shop fans, feel free to post comments about the great things your favorite coffee shop is doing in your community.

It Must Be Love, Love

Fans of one coffee shop created a blog to celebrate it. Great photos! This is the same coffee shop that hosted groundhogs on the patio!

Anyone else have a fan page for your favorite shop? Post a comment here so we can all check 'em out.

Be sure to look for your favorite coffee shop on Facebook and Twitter. CoffeeCat is trying to keep up, but as you know, "so many coffee shops, so little time."

Get a double - no, make that a triple - fix!

Do I have your attention? Saturday, Aug. 14, feed your coffee shop, shopping & animal rescue addictions in one place! Golden Antiques & Treasures in Summerfield is hosting a vintage quilt raffle for Piedmont Wildlife Rehab, Inc.

Did you know this nifty antiques mall is also home to Summerfield Creamery? They like to boast about their ice cream, but I've heard rumors that their coffee is top notch. Try it & let CoffeeCat know.

As if that's not enough, this nifty place is also opening a booth that will raise money for Red Dog Farm - a great rescue organization. The raffle drawing will be held Aug. 14.

Groundhogs at Greensborough Coffee

One of the groundhogs eats a snack on the patio with Melissa Coe.
Nothing gets your mind off a bad day like petting groundhogs, sipping iced latte, and listening to great music on the patio. Hansel & Gretel, friendly groundhogs who enjoy broccoli and pats on the head, were representing Piedmont Wildlife Rehab and raising funds to help injured wildlife. Look them up on Facebook or Piedmont Wildlife Rehab, Inc.!
